Section II: Detailed Project Description

The project shall consist of the demolition and removal of the existing Fire Headquarters for the Town of Lexington in its entirety. The new Fire Headquarters will be constructed at the
same location as the existing. The existing site has limited bearing capacity and as such a Rammed Aggregate Pier (RAP) and Grouted Aggregate Pier(GAP) system is to be installed to stabilize the site.
The building will be approximately 25,800 sf of construction type 2B and shall consist of a structural steel frame with masonry partitions and light gauge metal partitions and trusses. Exterior finishes shall consist of formed pre-finished aluminum panels, brick, precast concrete, stone, aluminum storefront systems and aluminum operable windows.
The building will be a high efficiency design and will consist of LED lighting, a Variable Refrigerant Flow(VRF) mechanical system for heating and cooling in conjunction with a solar thermal system and in-slab radiant heating at the apparatus bays.
Additional on-site solar electrical generation and battery storage will be coordinate with the project but provided by the Owner.
The entire building is to be sprinkled.
Sitework will consist of the relocation of Camellia Place. Site improvements will include bi-retention swales, underground storm water retention, pervious paving, asphalt drives, a concrete apron,
and limited landscaping and pavers.
